Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey

Each year the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) conducts the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), a confidential online survey of its employees to assess how well we are doing in providing a positive, healthy, and innovative work environment. The FEVS, administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) contains questions designed to measure employees' feelings and attitudes in topic areas such as talent development, leadership, management/supervision, knowledge management, performance culture, employee engagement, and other areas important to creating an effective work environment. The results are used to improve HHS and our Divisions by providing information to help us build on our strengths and address our weaknesses.

2022 FEVS

In 2022, OPM conducted the FEVS as a census, meaning that all eligible employees should have been invited to complete the survey. The 2022 FEVS was administered from June 6, 2022 – July 22, 2022. During this open period, more than 50,000 employees responded to the survey for an overall HHS response rate of 64.1 percent.

FEVS Engagement Score

The HHS employee engagement score was 77.9 in 2022. Our engagement score has increased consistently since 2014.
