The HHS refers to its component offices as “Staff Divisions” (STAFFDIVS) and “Operating Divisions” (OPDIVS).  Staff Divisions are sub-offices within the Office of the Secretary of HHS (OS).  Below are the complete names of relevant STAFFDIVS and OPDIVS that are identified by acronyms throughout this report:

STAFFDIVS:  Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources (ASFR); Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA); Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE); Immediate Office of the Secretary (IOS); Office for Civil Rights (OCR); Office of Global Affairs (OGA); Office of the General Counsel (OGC); Office of Inspector General (OIG); Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA); Program Support Center (PSC).

OPDIVS:  Administration for Children and Families (ACF); Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); Food and Drug Administration (FDA); Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); Indian Health Service (I.H.S.); National Institutes of Health (NIH); Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
