Michael Saunders

Acting Director for the Program Support Center

Michael Saunders, a member of the Senior Executive Service, serves as Director, Real Estate, Logistics, and Operations for Program Support Center (PSC), a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this position, he oversees multiple support services provided to the department and other federal agencies including building operations; real property management; supply chain management; transportation; mail and publishing, physical security and emergency management; intake, suitability and badging and FedResponse services. He also oversees the HHS Department policy and oversight functions for these same areas and represents the Department at numerous government-wide executive councils including the Federal Real Property Council and Federal Travel Management Council. Mr. Saunders joined PSC in October 2016.

He brings over 26 years of experience in a distinguished career of leadership with the U.S. Air Force. While on active duty, Mr. Saunders served in various command roles, base-level civil engineer positions, and completed staff tours at Air Combat Command and the Pentagon. He attained the rank of Colonel and most recently served as Director of Installations for the U.S. Air Force Central Command at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. He has been recognized with several major awards and other decorations during his career including the Legion of Merit and four Bronze Star Medals.

Mr. Saunders holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and three master’s degrees, including a master of engineering from the University of South Florida, a master of military arts and sciences from the Air University and a master of science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School of the National Defense University.
