The Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs hosts ten Regional Offices that directly serve state and local organizations. A President-appointed Regional Director leads each office.
Each Regional Director ensures the Department maintains close contact with state, local, and tribal partners and addresses the needs of communities and individuals served through HHS programs and policies.

HHS Region 1 - Boston directly serves state and local organizations in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
HHS Region 2 - New York directly serves state and local organizations in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
HHS Region 3 - Philadelphia directly serves state and local organizations in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
HHS Region 4 - Atlanta directly serves state and local organizations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
HHS Region 5 - Chicago directly serves state and local organizations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
