Name of Conference: Advancing Policy and Practice: A 50 State Convening to Prevent Opioid Overdose and Addition

How the Conference Advanced the Mission of the Agency: The purpose of the conference was to convene a working meeting on interventions to address opioid-related overdose and deaths.  This meeting provided a unique opportunity to assemble and interface with government partners to comprehensively discuss best practices in interventions for opioid addiction.  This conference advanced the mission of the agency by bringing state governments together to leverage resources to address the three HHS targeted facts of this public health epidemic.

The meeting provided the opportunity to discuss program updates, current topics and emerging issues and to train around new strategies, challenges and opportunities.  This conference advanced the mission of ASPE which is to deploy federal, state, local, territorial and tribal authorities during disasters, emergencies or national special security events.

This conference advanced the mission of OASH by helping to coordinate activities in preventive health services, disease prevention and health promotion for the Department.
