Special Advisor to the Surgeon General

Adam Beckman is the Special Advisor to the Surgeon General of the United States. The Surgeon General serves as the "Nation's Doctor" providing people in America with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and reduce the risk of illness and injury, and commands a uniformed service of more than 6,000 public health service officers serving the most underserved and vulnerable populations domestically and abroad. The United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps – one of the eight uniformed services – is solely committed to protecting, promoting and advancing the nation's health and safety.

Mr. Beckman has held prior roles spanning non-profit, start-up, and policy organizations focused on delivering better, more affordable health care and COVID-19 pandemic response. His health policy research and writing have been published in Journal of the American Medical Association, The Lancet, and Health Affairs and featured in The New York Times and The New Yorker. He is currently on leave from the joint M.D., M.B.A. program at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School and graduated summa cum laude from Yale.
