Established in 2010, the National Vaccine Plan (NVP) is the nation’s leading roadmap for a 21^st century vaccine and immunization enterprise. The NVP articulates a comprehensive strategy to enhance all aspects of vaccination, through the following five overarching goals:

1: Develop new and improved vaccines

2: Enhance the vaccine safety system

3: Support communications to enhance informed vaccine decision-making

4: Ensure a stable supply of, access to, & better use of recommended vaccines in the U.S.

5: Increase global prevention of death & disease through safe & effective vaccination

Reporting on the National Vaccine Plan

Since the release of the NVP, the vaccine and immunization landscape has changed; opportunities have emerged and new challenges are apparent. The Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) regularly reviews and reports on the NVP and its goals.

• Mid-course Review of the National Vaccine Plan 2016
  The Mid-course Review reflects on the priorities and progress toward goals laid out in the NVP and to identify emerging opportunities. Just as collaboration is crucial to the functionality of the vaccine and immunization enterprise, stakeholder collaboration was at the foundation of the National Vaccine Program's Mid-course Review reporting process.
