Visiting the PSC Badging Office

Please review these processes and protocols prior to your visit to help you prepare for your fingerprinting and badging appointment.

Step 1: Morning of Your Appointment

On the morning of your badging appointment, please answer “Yes” or “No” to the CDC recommended assessment questions below to determine if you may be at risk for COVID-19:

  • Are you currently experiencing any signs and symptoms of an acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, or shortness of breath)?
  • Have you had contact with someone known to have COVID-19 or who is under investigation for COVID-19?
  • Within the last 14 days, have you traveled to an international area with sustained transmission (China, Iran, South Korea, most of Europe)?

This measure has been implemented for the safety and protection of everyone who requires an in-person appointment where physical contact is required.

If you answer “Yes” to any of the above questions, please notify your sponsor and contact PSC Badging Office immediately to cancel or reschedule your appointment. The PSC Badging Office email is [email protected].

Step 2: Bring Two Forms of Federal or State ID

You must bring two forms of federally or state issued identification for all fingerprinting and badging related appointments.

Expired IDs

Form I-9 allows you to use an expired federal and state identification due to the close of offices that specifically renew identity credentials such as driver’s licenses.  See https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-policies-related-covid-19 for additional information.

Note: The policy states, “If the employee’s state ID or driver’s license expired on or after March 1, 2020, and the document expiration date has been extended by their state due to COVID-19, then it is acceptable as a List B document for Form I-9.

Enter the document’s expiration date in Section 2 and enter “COVID-19 EXT” in the Additional Information field. Employees may also attach a copy of the state motor vehicle department’s webpage or other notice indicating that their documents have been extended.”

You should confirm that your state has auto-extended the expiration date of state IDs and driver’s licenses by checking the state’s Motor Vehicle Administration or the Department of Motor Vehicle’s website prior to your appointment.

Step 3: Appointment Arrival and Check-in

When you arrive at the designated PSC Badging Office in your region, check in with the security guards in the building’s lobby. Wait times are longer due to increased volume and protective measures.  Once a workstation is available, you will be escorted to the badging office to provide your service as quickly as possible.

COVID-19 Pre-Appointment Questionnaire

Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, HHS is taking extra precautions to protect those providing and receiving necessary in-person services.  You will be asked to complete the CDC recommended assessment questions during the badging appointment process to determine if you may be at risk for COVID-19:

  1. The morning of your appointment
  2. When you arrive for your appointment

The CDC Recommended Assessment Questions:

  1. Are you currently experiencing any signs and symptoms of an acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, or shortness of breath)?
  2. Have you had contact with someone known to have COVID-19 or who is under investigation for COVID-19?
  3. Within the last 14 days, have you traveled to an international area with sustained transmission (China, Iran, South Korea, most of Europe)?

If you answer “Yes” to any of the above questions, please notify your sponsor and contact PSC Badging Office immediately to cancel or reschedule your appointment. The PSC Badging Office email is [email protected].
