A life-long Staten Islander in the City of NY, Anthony C. Ferreri, DBA, serves as Regional Director, Region II of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. As a Presidential Appointee, Dr. Ferreri provides executive leadership as the primary representative for the Secretary of Health and Human Services in Region II, encompassing New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and eight Tribal nations. Dr. Ferreri is also responsible for intergovernmental and external affairs bringing together federal, state, local, tribal government organizations, and other external partners, in an effort to coordinate the implementation of departmental policies and initiatives in the Region.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Ferreri worked for more than forty years in the healthcare industry, in various capacities in hospitals in both New York and New Jersey, including Vice President for Human Resources at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and twelve years as President and CEO of Staten Island University Hospital.

His most recent position prior to joining HHS, was as Executive Vice President and Chief Affiliation Officer for the Northwell Health System. Dr. Ferreri recently volunteered as a senior advisor to Staten Island Borough President James Oddo, concentrating his time on initiatives related to that borough’s opioid epidemic.

Dr. Ferreri has served on various not-for-profit boards, including, the Greater New York Hospital Association, the New York Organ Donor Network, the North Shore LIJ Health System, NYC Industrial Development Agency and BuildNYC. While at St. Barnabas, he served as president of the New Jersey Association for Hospital Human Resources Administration. In 2014 he received Modern Healthcare’s Community Leadership Award and in 2005, recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Dr. Ferreri was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Wagner College, a Master of Science in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Rutgers University and a Doctorate in Business Administration from California Coast University.
