Statement from Secretary Price on President Trump’s Address to Congress

Tonight, President Trump reassured the American people that help is on the way for those who are suffering as a result of the Affordable Care Act. The President called on Congress to repeal the law and replace it with reforms that will expand access to quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans. This message of relief and empowering Americans through patient-centered solutions stands in stark contrast to the defense of the status quo we unfortunately continue to hear from others. President Trump fully appreciates the dire state of our nation’s healthcare system as costs skyrocket and we see fewer choices. He understands that many Americans may have ‘coverage,’ but they don’t have care.

As Secretary of HHS, I’m proud to work with President Trump and Congress to return healthcare decisions to patients and get Washington out of the way; to empower individuals and families to choose the healthcare that best suits their needs; to return authority to the states; to provide relief to those who are paying more and getting less. Now is the time for action.
