Advisory Committees

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) oversees Presidential and Secretarial advisory committees.

Advisory Committee on Blood & Tissue Safety & Availability (ACBTSA)

Advises and makes recommendations on the Department’s broad responsibilities related to the safety of blood, blood products, organs, and tissues.

Advisory Committee on Minority Health (ACMH)

Advises on ways to improve the health of minority populations through HHS program activities.

Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee 2015 (DGAC)

Reviews the current scientific and medical knowledge and provides recommendations for the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines.

National Clinical Care Commission (NCCC)

Provides recommendations for leveraging federal programs related to metabolic or autoimmune diseases resulting from insulin-related issues.

National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC)

Advises on matters related to National Vaccine Program Office responsibilities.

Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force

Provides advice and recommendations for the development of best practices for pain management and prescribing pain medication.

2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee

Advises on the development of the 2nd edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines (PAG).

Presidential Advisory Council on Combatting Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB)

Advises on programs and policies implementing and evaluating the executive order to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA)

Advises on programs and policies related to HIV/AIDS prevention and research.

President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN)

Advises on issues related to fitness, sports and nutrition in America.

Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP)

Advises on issues and topics pertaining to or associated with the protection of human research subjects.

Secretary’s Healthy People 2030 Advisory Committee

Advises on the Healthy People 2030 mission statement, vision statement, framework and organizational structure.

Tick-Borne Disease Working Group

Reviews efforts related to all tick-borne diseases, to ensure coordination, minimize overlap, and examine research priorities.
