Sept 15th CMS Webinar on HCV Coverage and Pricing Issues for State Medicaid Agencies

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host an upcoming webinar on hepatitis C coverage and pricing issues on Thursday September 15, 2016, 1:30-2:30pm ET. The webinar will build upon the November 2015 CMS  letter to state Medicaid agencies advising states on the coverage of hepatitis C drugs for their beneficiaries. As part of continued efforts to address treatment access, the webinar will feature:

• Highlights of the recent changes in the Massachusetts, Florida, and Delaware Medicaid programs.
• Discussion of the rationale behind the changes in policy, the impact on the states’ managed care organization contractors, and the anticipated patient care and economic impact to the states. 
• An update from CMS on trends in state Medicaid program coverage for hepatitis C drugs.

Individuals living with chronic hepatitis C infection often face coverage-related barriers to accessing curative treatments. Guidelines developed by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the Infectious Diseases Society of American (IDSA) recommend that all persons infected with hepatitis C should be considered for treatment; however, restrictions in place by some state-based Medicaid agencies can limit access.

The purpose of this webinar is to facilitate information exchange among state Medicaid program on hepatitis C drug coverage policies. This session is part of the all-state State Operations and Technical Assistance (SOTA) calls hosted by CMS, and is open to all participants.
