Free Consultation Service: Hepatitis C Patient Management Support for Providers

Clinician Consultation Center provides hepatitis C patient management consultation services on HCV treatment and co-morbidities such as HIV or substance use.

Clinician to Clinician AdviceThe University of California, San Francisco’s, Clinician Consultation Center (CCC) provides hepatitis C (HCV) patient management consultation services to providers managing patients with HCV and co-morbidities such as HIV or substance use. The CCC provides up-to-date expert advice to support clinicians in managing their patients. The clinician-to clinician guidance is based on national screening and treatment guidelines, current scientific findings, and best clinical practices.

The CCC has been providing consultation services on HIV/AIDS to support clinicians for more than 25 years and has now made this service available for decision-making to support hepatitis C patient management including treatment regimen selection and dosing, co-morbidities, toxicity and complications, and special populations.

Specific consultation topics include:

  • HCV transmission & prevention
  • HCV screening & diagnostic testing 
  • HCV evaluation & monitoring 
  • Regimen selection
  • Re-treatment strategies
  • Co-infection (HCV-HIV, HCV-HBV)
  • HCV and special populations (chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, pregnancy)

The HCV consultation service is free and confidential and clinicians are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST. Voice mail and online case submission is available 24 hours a day. Questions are answered as soon as possible and many are answered within two hours.
