In November, HHS launched a public education effort to communicate the availability of free and low-cost reproductive health services, as well as provide information regarding privacy and the right to access these services. We are emphasizing two important messages: 1) women should make their own decisions about their health care and 2) reproductive health care is available.
The campaign was developed in response to President Biden’s Executive Order 14076, Protecting Access to Reproductive Healthcare Services, which tasked HHS with sharing information with the public about how to obtain free or reduced cost reproductive health care services through HHS-funded clinics. This Executive Order was issued after the June 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision on abortion.
We are directing women to the federal ReproductiveRights.gov website, which contains information on birth control, medication, abortion services, and other preventive health services, as well as important facts about privacy, rights associated with reproductive health care, and how people with and without health insurance can obtain reproductive health care.
The campaign includes a 15-second video and several static ads designed to reach low-income women of childbearing age from 18 to 45 years old. We will reach these women via digital media platforms – including Google Ads, Facebook, and Twitter – in media markets in Arizona, Missouri, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
In addition to launching the public education campaign and providing services through Title X clinics, HHS is also committed to ensuring the health of all adolescents, providing prevention education and engaging youth through our Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, and ensuring access to youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services through our Title X Program.
