In today’s session, we'll discuss the Department's initiatives that led to the changes in financial reporting, the goals and benefits of the changes. Working Together, Hand in Hand: An Equity Roundtable
Join a roundtable discussion during the Healthy Grants Workshop with representatives from five HRSA offices to discuss questions around equities and inequities. These offices work across HRSA with the various programmatic Bureaus in HRSA, assisting with the mission of HRSA.
Panel members will discuss the role of public health in addressing the issues of equity, diversion and inclusion, barriers, and maximizing competition in federal assistance. The discussion will also focus on HRSA’s efforts as an agency and it’s partnering activities within HHS and external stakeholders.

Improving the Health of Underserved Populations: How to Meet Your Language and Disability Access Obligations
In this session, we'll summarize relevant legal obligations related to language access and disability access and cover specific topics such as physical access, medical access, and promoting health equity for underserved patients.
We'll also review the process of creating a disability access plan and language access plan, which serve as roadmaps for your organization to develop equitable policies/practices to better service patients with disabilities and patients who don't speak English as their first language.
Last, we'll walk through common scenarios/challenges and review practical solutions to make your programs more accessible and equitable.
Promoting Effective Communication in Healthcare
Effective communication is a critical tool to promoting equity and accessibility by people with disabilities to quality healthcare services. It's also a legal obligation for HRSA funding recipients.
During this session, we'll provide strategies that your organization can implement to promote effective communication. We'll cover specific topics such as:
- Situations when it's appropriate to use an in-person sign language interpreter versus video remote interpreting
- Example accommodations to support patients with certain types of communication disabilities
- Model effective communication policies, practices, and procedures
