Six hospitals in the Delta Region selected to receive technical assistance

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), working in collaboration with the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), has selected six (6) rural hospitals across four (4) states in the Delta region to share $2 million for intensive technical assistance in the areas of finance, operations, technology and quality-improvement.

“We are looking forward to working with DRA on this important program,” said HRSA Administrator George Sigounas, MS, Ph.D. “This support will help these hospitals strengthen their health care systems and improve health outcomes in the Delta region.”

In September 2017, HRSA awarded $2 million to the National Rural Health Resource Center (NRHRC) to provide technical assistance to the hospitals located in in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri.

Today's announcement names the specific health care facilities selected for funding support:

ARKANSAS: Daughters of Charity Services of Arkansas (DCSA) in Dumas: DCSA comprises two rural health clinics and one wellness center serving Desha, Drew and Chicot counties.

LOUISIANA: Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) in Natchitoches: NRMC is a 100-bed, non-profit regional medical center serving rural residents located in Natchitoches, Winn, and Sabine parishes.

MISSISSIPPI:

  1. Tippah County Hospital (TCH) in Ripley: TCH is a county-owned critical access hospital that serves area residents in Tippah County.
  2. Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital (SICH) in Rolling Fork: SICH is an acute-care facility that serves residents in Sharkey and Issaquena counties.

MISSOURI:

  1. Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) in Hayti: PCMH is a publicly owned and operated health care provider serving Pemiscot County and nearby areas.
  2. Iron County Hospital (ICH) in Pilot Knob: ICH is a stand-alone critical access hospital that serves Iron County and surrounding areas.
