Nominations for Membership
All vacant positions on the Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry (ACTPCMD) are either filled or in the process of being filled. Next year, we will be seeking nominations for individuals who represent the fields of Family Medicine, Physician Assistants, and General Dentistry. We also anticipate seeking nominations for individuals with health workforce data and statistics backgrounds. Nominations for these categories will be accepted between January and February of 2023.
ACTPCMD Leadership
Sandra Snyder, DO, ACTPCMD Chair
Dr. Snyder is a family medicine physician and the program director at the Cleveland Clinic Family Medicine Residency Program. Her research and family medicine curricula development aligns with the bureau’s priority on the implementation of data-driven outcomes across training. For example, she recently developed a 60-hour, longitudinal leadership in patient safety and quality curriculum and developed an accelerated undergraduate medical education (UGME)/graduate medical education (GME) pathway in population health known as the Transformative Care Continuum. She has presented in peer-reviewed forums at the local, state, and national levels covering topics critical to preparing the future physician workforce such as Assessing Resident Physician Performance in Electronic Health Record (EHR) Data Acquisition and Management and Unique Evaluation Measures to Recruit the Medical Student of the Future. She serves on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)/Pursuing Excellence Selection Committee for Health Care Disparities and the chair elect for the Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME), which is a national organization to improve the health of the public and enhance the training of osteopathic medical residents. Her expertise in assessing residence performance in the EHR and strategies to recruit the medical student of the future aligns with the cutting edge priorities of the Bureau of Health Workforce and will make her a valuable asset to the committee.
Appointed Members
ACTPCMD consists of up to 17 members appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services for terms of up to three years. By legislation and Charter, the ACTPCMD is comprised of a fair balance of health professionals that represent both urban and rural areas, with an adequate representation of women and minorities. Members are appointed based on their competence, interest, and knowledge of the following primary care health professions and disciplines:

- General Pediatrics
- Preventive Medicine
- Physician assistants
- General Dentistry
- Pediatric Dentistry
- Public Health Dentistry
- Dental Hygiene
