Grants Policy Update

In this session, OFAM's Division of Grants Policy and Planning summarizes grants policy updates, legislative mandates, and topics that impact HRSA award recipients.

Effectively Managing Your Grants

This session provides information on how to track federal grant funds, document expenditures, and provide adequate supporting documentation. We present on time and effort reporting, including acceptable forms of documentation. We also discuss allowability of costs and share resources and best practices for effectively managing your grants.

Grant Budgeting

In this session, we highlight the many factors to consider when developing and managing a grant budget. We explore cost principles, Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requirements, allowable and unallowable costs, limitations, and the importance of budget justifications. We use examples to illustrate common budgeting mishaps and resulting consequences.

Understanding and Managing Your Award

In this session, we share what you need to know once you receive the Notice of Award (NoA). We also review common post-award actions involved in the day-to-day administration of a HRSA award. Topics include:

  • Understanding the terms and conditions and reporting requirements
  • The importance of accurate and timely submissions
  • Common types of prior approval requests and when they are required
  • Roles and responsibilities of the HRSA grants management specialist and Project Officer

Changes in Financial Reporting and PMS Updates

In this session, we discuss the Department's initiatives that led to the changes in financial reporting and the goals and benefits of the changes. Additionally, we cover the new features of the APEX reports that are available in the Payment Management System (PMS), which will assist you in reconciling your federal awards.

Health Workforce Resiliency

In this presentation, we provide an overview and early successes of HRSA's Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program (HPSWRTP) awards. The program aims to reduce and address burnout, suicide, mental health conditions and substance use disorders and promote resiliency among the health workforce.

SAM and UEI

Maintain an active SAM.gov registration. Renew and revalidate at least once a year.

Get and provide your UEI in each application.

Effective April 4, 2022, the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) will replace the DUNS. To get a UEI, visit SAM.gov and select "Get Started."
