Ensuring Equity in Our Process

We're committed to ensuring equity in our grant reviewer application process. If you're a reviewer with a disability and you require a reasonable accommodation during the application/review process, email the HRSA Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator or call 301-443-5636.

Objective Review Committee Timelines

Due to COVID-19, we may adjust the timelines of our previously scheduled Objective Review Committees.

If you have expertise in certain subjects, you may be able to evaluate grant applications.

How do we choose reviewers?

We choose reviewers based on their knowledge, education, and experience. We also select them based on specific criteria in the HRSA Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

How can you apply to become a grant reviewer?

If you work or have experience in health care, register via our Reviewer Recruitment Module (RRM).

We look for people with expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Health workforce training
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Maternal and child health
  • Organ transplantation
  • Primary care for underserved people
  • Rural health

Note: We particularly want reviewers who have expertise in social, cultural, or health care issues of people in rural areas, migrants, or Native Americans.

What can you expect from the grant review process?

Grant reviewers:

  • Review eligible applications against published evaluation criteria.
  • Input your scores and comments into an online portal, the Application Review Module (ARM).
  • Discuss your scores and evaluation with other reviewers on your panel.

Do we pay grant reviewers?

We do compensate each non-federal participant.
