New Opportunities at HRSA for Early-Career Professionals

HRSA is announcing multiple positions within the HRSA Scholars Program, the HRSA Health Equity Fellowship Program, and Recent Graduate opportunities within HRSA bureaus and offices.

HRSA administers and manages both the HRSA Scholars Program and the HRSA Health Equity Fellowship Program as a cohort. There are a limited number of slots within each of these programs, but HRSA may also appoint applicants to Recent Graduate positions throughout the organization.

To learn more, applicants may attend an information session via Zoom (link is external) on Thursday, April 28, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. ET. For reasonable accommodation requests, please send an e-mail to RA-Request@hrsa.gov

All three opportunities are one-year developmental programs for early-career professionals. Participants will grow, train, and prepare for a potential career in the federal government. All program participants will receive 40 hours of formal training, an individual development plan, and a mentor.

Upon successful completion of the Program requirements and acceptable performance evaluations, HRSA may convert participants of any Recent Graduate program to permanent positions and promote them to the next appropriate grade level.

The HRSA Scholars Program enhances HRSA's ability to recruit, hire, develop, and retain high-quality individuals for entry-level professional positions. The cornerstone of the Scholars Program is a structured, individualized, 12-month development program during which participants rotate through HRSA’s bureaus and offices. HRSA Scholars will attend trainings as a group and will focus on specific public health programs. HRSA hires Scholars to a “home office,” but Scholars also rotate to different offices during their one-year appointment.

HRSA Health Equity Fellows also complete their 12-month program together as a cohort. The Fellows will follow a structured training curriculum, and will work alongside HRSA leaders to support projects that address health disparities and achieve healthy outcomes across the country.

Anyone who is interested should apply through this Recent Graduate announcement. HRSA will assess applicants based on the qualifications outlined below. If contacted for an interview, HRSA will tell applicants which opportunity they are being interviewed for (i.e. HRSA Scholars, HRSA Health Equity Fellows, or HRSA Recent Graduate Public Health Analyst).
