The Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) has released two Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs). One is the 2019 State Maternal Health Innovation (State MHI) Program (HRSA-19-107) and the other is the Supporting Maternal Health Innovation (Supporting MHI) Program (HRSA-19-106).

HRSA plans to invest approximately $18 million through the State MHI Program for states to address disparities in maternal health, and improve maternal health outcomes, including preventing and reducing maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity.

You can review the State MHI funding opportunity at:
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html?keywords=hrsa-19-107

HRSA will fund up to nine cooperative agreements between HRSA and recipients of the State MHI awards. Successful State MHI Program award recipients will receive $2 million per year for a five-year period of performance to strengthen partnerships and collaboration by establishing a state-focused Maternal Health Task Force, improving state-level data surveillance on maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and promoting and executing innovation in maternal health service delivery.

HRSA also plans to invest approximately $2.5 million to support the State MHI award recipients with the Supporting MHI Program, which will provide capacity building assistance and establish a resource center.

You can review the Supporting MHI funding opportunity at:
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html?keywords=hrsa-19-106

HRSA will fund one cooperative agreement between HRSA and the recipient of the Supporting MHI award. The successful Supporting MHI Program award recipient will receive up to $2.4 million per year for a five-year period of performance to support states and other stakeholders in reducing maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity through capacity building assistance to State MHI recipients and other HRSA-funded grantees as they implement innovative and evidence-informed strategies. The funding will also establish a national resource center to provide guidance to HRSA award recipients, states, and key stakeholders in improving maternal health.

Eligible applicants for both funding opportunities include domestic public or private entities. Domestic faith-based and community-based organizations, tribes, and tribal organizations are also eligible to apply.

HRSA will hold a webinar for State MHI Program applicants on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 3-4 p.m., EDT. HRSA will hold a webinar for Supporting MHI Program applicants on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 3-4 p.m., EDT.

A recording of each webinar will be made available for those who cannot attend. Please reference page ii in each NOFO for the dial-in and playback information for the webinars.
